How to apply this adhesive Surface prep · setting out · fixing · grouting
Before you start
1
Prepare the surface — it must be flat, clean, dry, and free from dust or loose material. Remove any flaking or peeling layers.
New plaster or cement render: allow at least 4 weeks to cure. New brickwork or concrete: allow at least 4 weeks.
2
In wet rooms and showers, apply a tanking kit (e.g. UltraTileFix ProShield) before tiling. Ensure 100% solid bed coverage — do not leave voids behind tiles.
In wet areas, leave adhesive to dry for a minimum of 3 days before grouting.
3
For plasterboard, brace and screw boards horizontally and vertically at 300mm centres. Maximum tile and adhesive weight: 32kg/m².
4
Mark a true horizontal datum line one tile height up from the floor or bath edge. Fix a timber batten along this line as a temporary ledge.
5
Find your vertical centre — dry-lay tiles from the centre outwards to check cut sizes at both edges. Adjust so cuts are equal and at least half a tile wide.
Fixing & finishing
6
Apply adhesive with a notched trowel (6×6mm notch for 3mm bed). Work in sections no larger than 1m² to prevent skinning.
Open time: 20 minutes. Max bed depth: 3mm. Do not spot-bond.
7
Press each tile firmly with a slight twisting action. Check alignment within the 20-minute open time.
The highly flexible formulation accommodates slight wall movement without cracking the adhesive bond.
8
Occasionally lift a tile to check coverage — minimum 50% for dry areas; 100% solid bed (no voids) for wet rooms and showers.
9
Clean surplus adhesive from tile faces and grout joints immediately with a damp cloth. Build in expansion joints at all internal corners.
10
Grout after 18 hours minimum (3 days in wet areas or on impervious backgrounds). Seal all junctions with a compatible silicone sealant.
Do not use the shower for at least 48 hours after grouting is complete.
