Q. Why do tiles have to be spaced and why use tile spacers to do this?
A. Tiles contract and expand even when fixed. If tiles were not spaced they would push against each other, crack and come loose. Tile spacers make sure that your spaces are even and give a professional look to the finished installation. Spacer width is a personal preference however traditionally 2mm was used for walls and 3mm for floors.
