Pot life is only 30 minutes at 23°C. Mix only what you can use within that time. Work in small batches and have everything prepared before mixing. In warm conditions pot life may be shorter — keep materials cool where possible.
Setaflex Rapid Set S1 is Kerakoll's rapid-setting deformable mineral adhesive for porcelain tiles, ceramic tiles and natural stone. Classified C2F T S1, it sets fast enough to walk on and grout after just 3 hours — making it the right choice for renovation projects, commercial installations, or any situation where returning an area to use quickly matters. S1 flexibility accommodates natural substrate movement including underfloor heating systems and timber floors. Despite its rapid set speed, it delivers the same durability and adhesion performance as the standard-set product, tested against the same EN 12004-2 requirements.

Mixing & preparation

Prepare the substrate. Surfaces must be level, cured, undamaged, compact, rigid and dry. Remove all dust, grease and debonding agents.
Anhydrite screeds: residual humidity ≤ 0.5 CM-%. Cement screeds: ≤ 2 CM-%. With underfloor heating: anhydrite ≤ 0.3 CM-%.

Prime the substrate. Porous substrates (cement render, plasterboard, brick, screeds): Primeplus diluted 3:1. Anhydrite: 1st coat 3:1, 2nd coat neat. Existing tiles, timber, metal, PVC: Prime+ Grip undiluted. Allow primer to dry fully.

Underfloor heating. Commission and test fully before tiling. Set to a maximum of 15°C during installation and for 7 days after. Then increase at 5°C per day.
Do not exceed 15°C during installation.

Prepare before mixing. Have all tiles cut, spacers ready, and tools to hand before you mix. Once mixed you have only 30 minutes.
Do not mix more than you can use in 30 minutes. Do not remix or add water to adhesive that has begun to thicken.

Mix. Add powder gradually to ≈ 4.5–4.9 litres of clean water per 20 kg bag. Mix mechanically until smooth. Work in small batches.
Pot life ≈ 30 minutes at 23°C. In warm conditions this will be shorter.
Fixing & finishing

Apply adhesive immediately after mixing in sections of approx. 0.5–1 m² using a notched trowel. Comb in one direction.
6mm notch for wall tiles. 10–12mm notch for floor tiles and large formats.
Open time is only 15 minutes — fix tiles promptly. Do not fix tiles onto adhesive that has started to skin.

Solid bed for floors and exterior. Butter the back of each tile as well as the substrate. Minimum coverage: 65–70% on dry internal walls, 100% on floors, wet areas and all external surfaces.

Fix tiles. Press firmly with a twisting action and tap level. Work quickly within the 15-minute open time. Remove surplus adhesive from tile faces immediately with a damp cloth.
With a rapid set time, surplus adhesive left on tile faces will be very difficult to remove. Clean up as you go.

Movement joints. Leave at all perimeters, internal corners and changes of material. Internal without UFH: every 100 m². With UFH: every 40 m². External: every 10 m². Fill with silicone sealant, not grout.

Grout. Allow ≈ 3 hours on floors and ≈ 2 hours on walls at 23°C before grouting. Use silicone at all junctions and movement joints.
Swimming pools: wait 7 days before filling.
